Furnace Tune Up in Medford, New Jersey

According to manufacturers, furnaces need to be tuned-up at least one time annually. This is because, over time, furnaces tend to form issue from extensive use and age. A furnace in disrepair can leave you with unsatisfactory heating — or even no heating at all! Worse, it can put you and your family at risk of toxic combustion byproduct gasses such as carbon monoxide.
The bitter New Jersey Winter is already here, and your furnace is starting to kick into gear. If you haven’t had a furnace tune-up in the past 12 months, call Raynor Electric for heating service today!

Furnaces need some love more than once a year

If you’re a long time home owner, then you know the furnace tune up rule well. Once a year, you have a technician come out to your home and perform a thorough inspection on your heating system to ensure it will work reliably all winter long.
While manufacturers do suggest you continue to have that annual tune up, there are some tasks you can perform all year long (or all season long) to keep your furnace in tip-top condition.

  1. Clean it: Dirt is a furnace’s biggest enemy. If it gets into the system, it can cause it to overheat and waste fuel.
  2. Check the pilot light to make sure that it’s on. If you notice that it’s not, try relighting it.
  3. Check that the flue has a clear vent path to the outdoors with no gaps or dents

These three things would be checked by a technician during a maintenance visit, but it’s still a good idea to show it a little love more than once a year. It does work hard to keep you warm, after all.
