Furnace Repair Mount Laurel

Changing Your Air Filters Can Increase Home Comfort

Don’t let this spring-like weather get your hopes up: winter is still looming, and Mount Laurel is expected to get back to the 30 degree range by next week. This means you’ll need to have a working furnace for a little bit longer in order to keep you and your family warm.
When you go to turn your furnace back on after a few days of rest only to find that your home is not getting enough heat – or not getting any at all – that can be frustrating.

Common Furnace Problems

Having little to no heat in your home can be a result of a number of different things. As a concerned homeowner, it’s a good idea to be aware of these causes, as there may be something you can do to ease the situation.

  1. Thermostat malfunctions: If you have a broken thermostat, your furnace won’t know what temperature to heat your home. In many cases, that means your system won’t turn on at all. Periodically check your thermostat to ensure the temperature it reads is accurate for how warm your home feels. If the comfort levels don’t match, you know you may have a problem with the thermostat.
  2. Dirty or clogged air filter: As their name suggests, air filters filter out all the dirt and debris before it can circulate throughout your home. It’s no wonder they get dirty so easily. That’s why it’s suggested you change out your air filters once every few months.
  3. Pilot light problems: If your pilot light doesn’t stay on, the furnace can’t heat your home. You may be able to relight it yourself, temporarily resolving the issue. However, if it persists, a professional evaluation is needed.
  4. Air flow problems: Air that can’t circulate properly though the system can cause it to overheat and shut down. This is a vicious cycle because it will just keep happening until you get it looked at. Don’t waste time, and money, thinking the problem will fix itself. (It won’t!)
