Bathroom Power Loss Mount Laurel

Check For a Tripped Breaker or GFCI Outlet

Chances are that at least once in your life you’ve experienced a power outage – probably during a thunderstorm or when you had too many electronics plugged in at once. But, have you ever had it happen to just one room in your house? You tried changing the bulbs and resetting the outlets, but nothing seems to work.
There are several reasons why this might be happening, and a couple things you can try to get the power restored. However, in many cases, you will need a licensed electrician to help you.

Possible Causes of a One Room Outage

  1. Tripped breaker: Breakers trip when the circuit is overloaded or if a defective appliance short-circuits the system. To try and test if this is the problem, unplug everything in the room and find your fuse box. If you see that one of the switches is down (it should be for the room with the outage), then you know that’s what caused the problem. Try flipping it up and see if power is restored.
  2. GFCI: It’s also possible that the GFCI detected a short circuit or electrical failure and tripped it. If flipping the switch on the breaker didn’t work, you can try pressing the reset button on the GFCI receptacle. Pressing that button  down completely should get the power to come back on.

If both of these remedies to not restore power to the room, then it’s time to call Raynor Services. We will come out and do a full inspection of the room in question and of your electrical system to get a good idea of what the problem is. Once we have it narrowed down, we will fill you in on our findings and fix the problem on the spot with your approval.
When the power goes out in a room that’s used frequently throughout the day – like a bathroom or kitchen – it’s an inconvenience for everyone in the home.
